When actors are performing on stage for an audience there can be many distractions which could ruin there performance. Stanislavski believed that if the actors observed an object with intensity, they would become interested in it which would help them develop an action with it. Although Stanislavski didn’t want his actors to easily become distracted by the audience, he didn’t advise that the actor forget the audience, or believe they didn’t exist. He thought that would be contradictory to the art of theatre because the audience was an important ‘co-creator’ of the performance. Stanislavski believed that when an actor stood on stage they would lose control of their basic faculties and would have to be re-taught how to achieve this in public.…

During the slavery era, the black body was subjected to the debasement of the Europeans to justify their inhumane treatment and discrimination of them. For example, they regarded their hair in a derogatory manner as “wooly” to convince Europeans that they were on the bottom of the evolutionary ladder (Byrd and Tharps, 14). When slavery was abolished, blacks were still targeted as the savages of society, while the white men were presented as the civilized beings. This was repeatedly shown in advertisements, and other examples like The Freak Shows at Coney Island. They were important to the idea of the abnormal black body because “they served to institutionalize notions of disability as the ultimate deviance—thus solidifying Americans’ needs…

Having quite a pessimistic view on the world, humans especially, beginning by the end of my first decade of life produced a great interest in the darker aspects of the world we live in. This doesn 't mean I only explored the things lurking in the shadows, but rather hidden truths and malevolent desires that lie beneath even the happiest of exteriors. This brought forth the birth of "Carnival Creatures" I intend to further pursue and take advantage of this pessimistic view and explore in detail aspects of life/death and good/evil, especially their interaction with each other and the balance or overpowering of one over its counterpart. I plan to produce a series of carnival/circus focused works that depict an atmosphere completely different…
