I would be a great candidate of the Anne M Dorner middle school chapter of the National Junior Honor Society because I demonstrate scholarship, service, character, citizenship, and leadership in my everyday life. Some of the committee has already noticed my scholarship because they have identified me as having a high academic performance. The uprising conflict regarding the usage of honor codes being apart of school systems, from elementary schools to colleges. Some argue that honor codes are ineffective while others believe the contrary. The recognition of getting a high grade on a test using one’s knowledge is more delightful than knowing the answers are someone else’s. Honor code systems gives students fairness and punishments for the actions they chose to make. In fact my school’s honor code should be maintained because it promotes a positive academic environment, lowers the percentage of academic dishonesty, and it easily adapts to the school environment.…
In the past few years, I’ve volunteered with a variety of organizations from National Honor Society, National Spanish Honor Society, and Key Club. I have also co-founded a Community Outreach Club at high school. Through the Church I’ve assisted with Vacation Bible School and middle school retreats. One of my favorite memories came from volunteering for the first time with National Spanish Honor Society. Stumbling upon this quote freshman year, and since then, the quote has deeply ingrained itself in my brain-- the significant effects of the quote to my life unforeseen at the time. Ayn Rand, a Russian novelist, once stated, “The question isn't who is going to let me; it's who is going to stop me.” As my eyes brushed upon every word, it resonated with me. The quote by the novelist are words I hold with the highest of regards, and undoubtedly, I now apply it to everyday life, notably in decision making. The film focuses on Ayaan Hirsi Ali, Nazanin Afshin-Jam, Dr. Qanta Ahmed, Nazie Eftekhari, Manda Zand Ervin, Fahima Hashim, Zainab Khan, Raheel Raza, Jasvinder Sanghera, Raquel Saraswati, and Juliana Taimoorazy. The nine women are all women’s rights activists who have witness cruelty within the Muslim world. The women in the documentary each tell a story about what happened to them and what made them be an activist. Throughout my high school career, and even earlier, I have shown the characteristics of a member of the National Honor Society through my actions and accomplishments. Beginning with scholarship, which can be clearly seen with my activity within the school and the community. I receive outstanding grades in all my classes and have participated in nearly six activities the school offers. I have also volunteered at the Lehigh Valley Hospital - Pocono, formally known as Pocono Medical Center, where I not only displayed scholarship, but also leadership. When it came time for me to begin thinking of an Eagle Scout Service Project, I wanted to do something that would ultimately impact my immediate community and last a long time. I did not want a project that would only last for a short amount of time, I wanted something that would last and leave an impact on others. With this thought process in mind, I also wanted to give back to a community that helped me become the person I am today.
