Abdulazeez's Attack Summary

The most recent terrorist attack in the Tennessee area was on July 16, 2015 when Mohammad Youssef Abdulazeez attacked a military base in Chattanooga, TN (Sgueglia, 2015). The attack occurred at a Navy reserve facility in Chattanooga, Tennessee, where they FBI determined it was motivated by foreign terrorist organization propaganda. Mohammad Abdulazeez entered the military recruiting center where he opened fire and then drove seven miles to the Navy reserve facility where he then shot and killed four UA Marines and one Navy sailor. The attack at both military installations took the terrorist only 7 minutes to attack killing 5 military personnel. Abdulazeez then attempted to return back inside of the facility where he was met by Chattanooga Police. A firefight then ended Abdulazeez and injured Chattanooga Police officer Dennis Pedigo. The total attack lasted nearly 7 minutes while some reported it felt like 20 to 30 minutes long. FBI Director James Comey stated that this attack was fueled and motivated by foreign terrorist propaganda. The terrorist is thought to have carried out the attack alone with two assault rifles and a handgun. The attack was only small arms fire on military personnel. The attack has been confirmed as a terrorist attack. Abdulazeez was from America. The exact reasons or exact propaganda that was used to motivate Abdulazeez is still unknown. The current trend in that time was ISIS and ISIS was very active on social media and through videos pledging their allegiance to kill as many American's as possible. I believe that this Abdulazeez found comfort in his radical beliefs in Islam and took out these attacks in the name of his god, Allah. Types of terrorist organizations like ISIS have made it very clear that they want all American Muslims to step up and believe in
