Finally, the Child Abuse Prevention and Treatment Act (CAPTA) of 1974 is a key piece of legislation that has been refined and reauthorized many times. The most recent, CAPTA Reauthorization Act of 2010 (PL 111-320) provides an overview of the requirements for state funding for the treatment and prevention of child abuse and neglect (CAPTA, 2010, p. 3). Individual titles in the act provide guidelines for states and individual entities in providing services related to child safety including but not limited to; reporting, training, and inter-professional coordination.
