She would encourage others while displaying the proper attitude or actions herself. She never gave up and was a supportive player and friend to her teammates. Her biggest role as a leader came when the older players started to leave and the new players like Sydney Leroux and Christen Press came in. When they came she was there to answer questions and help the young players feel more at home with the team. As she stated “The key to leadership is you have to have complete security with yourself. You have to listen and be open.” (home.gotsoocer.com/magazine) . She was also a humble leader and even when she won the Ballon D’OR in 2013 which is an award given to the best female soccer player after a FIFA World Cup. She still gave credit and congratulations to the other four players that made it to the semifinal rounds as well . She called it a group effort that you play as a team and win as a team.
Abby Wambach’s life is filled with many stories both good and bad but the best ones are the ones you could look at and just say Wow! She has many traits displayed in those stories that make her a hero her kindness, her confidence, her passion. But I choose her Determination, her Supportiveness, and her Leadership because those were the traits that stuck out and I feel made her the person she is today. She is not just a hero to me but to any soccer players out there who are looking for someone to follow, someone to lead the way for
