Slowly, Shefali and I walked into the room. The older girls were already there, stretching and laughing. They had done this a million times, and they all had a set spot in every advanced class. Auditions began quickly; Sue never wasted time. “Today we will be auditioning for lyrical and jazz performing groups.” Sue started. “I’ve already seen most of you dance throughout this year, but this audition is still important. Just remember to relax and dance for yourself.” We started with lyrical, one of my favorite styles. Abbie, a teacher at the studio taught a familiar combination to us.
