Important to every story, character traits help readers understand what the author’s message is. In the story “Aaron’s Gift” by Myron Leroy, a boy named Aaron saved a pigeon while harrowingly rescue his grandmother’s spirit of the goat. The three character traits that Aaron was using in the story are kindness, helpful, and smart. One instance that shows Aaron’s kindness was when he, “… would not chance going by three flights on roller skates this time.” (Page 113) this quote displayed Aaron’s kindness because here he does not want to harm the bird. Had he kept his skates on, he could have had fallen on the bird. Furthermore, Aaron was imaginative in this part. Aaron is trying to be careful about what he is doing and watching his steps. Onto
