He claims the festivals and raves are what give electronic music its true meaning. The reason being: “It gives ravers a chance to escape reality, to get away from the negativity, the hate and the judgment of the world. [When you’re there], you're amongst other ravers that accept you regardless of your background. Whether you were the lonely kid, the shy guy, the outcast, here, we welcome you with open arms” (Manaloto). As an adult, Aaron has a lot of personal struggles and responsibilities that he deals with on his own. Being at raves and listening to one of his favorite music genres has given him an outlet in life as it helps him to escape his harsh reality. Even if it is just for a short while, he is able to feel free at these events without having to stress over anything. I personally empathize with Aaron here because I also agree that everybody deserves a break from life every once in a while. How Aaron feels at a festival with other ravers is how I feel being in my hometown with my family. College is not at all easy with all the assignments, exams and studying that we have to do. However, I know I have the least amount of worries whenever I am at home visiting my family. It is an amazing feeling to be able to find something that will put your mind at ease. Before my interview with him, the only knowledge I had of electronic music was that it consists of DJs who record and edit their own music using computer softwares. While I practically knew the literal definition of electronic music, Aaron gave me more of a figurative definition to understand the importance it has with its audience. First of all, he helped me learn new things about electronic music that I had no idea about, like the different styles in EDM and how they vary from one another. After attempting to distinguish the difference in each subgenre for myself, I can finally say that they do not all sound the same. Secondly, Aaron taught me that EDM helps bring people together. Everyone at festivals and raves share a common goal, and that is to be able to enjoy the music they love in a stress-free environment. This explains why there is peace, love, unity and respect (or P.L.U.R) on the grounds of these events. Although I am now able to see electronic music from a different standpoint, my feelings for it still remain the same. However, I can attest that I do have a lot more respect to those who do listen to
