The American dream is; the dream that everyone could have an equal chance to succeed in life and be prosperous through one’s own hard work, determination, and initiative. In a time when this dream was all you really needed to show a love for this country, Aaron Copland stepped it up one notch and strived to show his patriotism through his passion, Music. Aaron wanted to make an impact on the world not only with his music but his love for America.
Aaron Copland was born at the end of the turn of the century on November 14, 1900. He was born in Brooklyn, New York to Harris and Sarah Copland. Aaron grew up in Brooklyn helping his parents and 4 older sibling run a department store. …show more content…
Boulanger thought highly of Aaron, and even allowed him to mediate in an argument between herself and contemporary Harold Clurman. He noticed the popularity of the American jazz throughout Europe, and started writing it into his modern classical pieces. In 1924, Aaron returned home to Boston and became a leading member of what was known as the “New Music” scene. At one point, Serge Koussevitzky, a friend of Nadia Boulanger’s and the new music director of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, agreed to play Aaron’s ‘Symphony for Organ and Orchestra” at a concert, although it wasn’t very well received by the audience.
