The program goes a lot off of praying and believing in God. I feel that if someone doesn’t believe in God or any higher power, it would be hard to go through this program. Overall I felt this meeting was truly amazing. It was eye opening hearing everyone’s story. One thing that stuck out to me was one of the members who was a recovering alcoholic stated that she was a lucky alcoholic. She explained that she had never been in trouble with the law due to the drinking. I always thought that a lot of the alcoholics only get help when they get in trouble. But, this story showed me that there are people that realize they need help and get into AA meetings on their own. Another story that stuck out to me was a member saying that he was 8 years sober, but he had been to rock bottom before he got to that point. He had been to prison and had lost family and friends from drinking problems. But, he got help and is now in recovery. He still attends meetings every week and enjoys meeting with others that share his experience. I feel that this is a good example of how well the 12 step process works. This helps new members believe in the process and at least try
