ASU Personal Statement

Growing up in the streets of Luanda, Angola – Southwest Africa, I always dreamed about going to the best school. Even though it seemed impossible for a small town girl whose parents only had enough to pay for a community college, I kept studying and always gave my best academically. All my hard work eventually paid off when I was awarded a scholarship to study in the USA. Most American students may take it for granted, but it is privilege to study here. Just the mere acceptance into ASU made both me and my family feel proud. Now that I am currently studying at ASU I have realized that I am not yet satisfied. I am still striving for success and still desire the best education possible. Accordingly, I would like to maximize my undergraduate college

For as long as I can remember, I have wanted to attend North Dakota State University. My dad and sister are NDSU alumni, so furthering my education where they did provides us with a unique bond. Additionally, not many of my relatives attended college, allowing me to see the difficulties in providing for oneself and family without a college degree. Although I know the next seven years are going to be challenging, extremely strenuous, and will push me to the edge of my comfort zone, the satisfaction of administering medical services to those who need them will make it worthwhile. Not only will I be able to care for others with a Pharm.…

Personal Statement Almost everyone had a rod in hand as they walked through the main street headed for the pier or docks to try and reel in a tasty morsel for dinner. In my small fishing village surrounded by serene mountains and lush waters, I grew up distant from many of life’s amenities and creature comforts. Surrounded by family and relatives, I lived in a capsule of love. Little did I know that in several years, I would be on a plane bound for the United States, uncertain about my future but resolve in my dreams.…

On June 8th of 2016 I was given a Minor In Possession (MIP) ticket that I thought, at the time, I didn’t deserve. I desperately needed a ride back home so I decided to ask one of my friends to take me home that was visiting Austin. When I entered the car that morning I knew that it smelled of marijuana and that there were open bottles of liquor. However, I told myself, “I don’t smoke and this alcohol isn’t mine.…

When I never thought that I would spend my first two years of college at a community college. I applied to the universities I had in mind during my final year in high school and got accepted into all of them. Unfortunately, the cost was too much to go to any of the colleges, and the scholarship money was barely enough to pay for an entire year. The Honors College Fellows Scholarship was awarded to me, and the Honors College at Lone Star College-North Harris would cover the cost of my first two years of college. It was an Honors College at this community college, and a lot of what I have learned and gained is thanks to this program.…

I have always been one for thinking big, dreaming big and achieving big. That's the reason I came to this country in the first place; away from my loving and caring parents, away from my little brother who needs me by his side and away from my home country, which I believe one day I'll be blessed to go back to and be the strong difference maker I've always dreamt of being. I love my current university, Augie(Augustana University). In soon to be one year of my stay here, Augie is the place I've made lots of friends from so many different countries; Augie is the place I got to learn so much more about life than I previously did and grow even more mature; Augie is the place where I repeatedly step outside of my comfort zone, which, while a bit…
