Assignment 2—Case study
1) Derek seems to be displaying both conduct disorder and antisocial personality disorder (ASPD) because his behaviors (and age) meet criteria for the diagnosis of both. To be diagnosed with conduct disorder at least three core symptoms must be present and must occur repeatedly or in a pattern. Derek has deliberately destroyed others property: he vandalized school property and also attempted to break into a neighbor’s apartment. He has also consistently committed theft via shoplifting and was arrested for it, but confessed to shoplifting many other times before, and he also stole a car. Moreover he is also lies as his father says that Derek cannot be trusted because he of deceit.
Also, I think that Derek meets the criteria for ASPD; to be diagnosed with ASPD one must show symptoms since the age of 15 and show more than three symptoms. Derek will most likely not complete high school and drop out because of his poor grades and his many absences. Derek may continue experimenting with other drugs with more adverse effects than marijuana and could potentially end up overdosing since he does not care what happens to him. He may even contract STD’s because of his precocious sexual activity. He will most likely get into more trouble with the law if he continues on this path and eventually he will have to serve a heavy sentence. Upon completing his sentence even if Derek wants to change, it would be extremely difficult for him to secure a job with his history and this might create a perpetual cycle which could land him back in

The biography "Daniel Johnston and the Devil" spoke of a young man, at the time, which lived a chaotic life due to his head, this is because Daniel suffered from multiple mental illnesses. I will take this time to look at a traditional psychiatric diagnosis and an emotional/spiritual understanding of the life, struggles and mind of Daniel Johnston. Daniel Johnston started life seemingly average to most, though after some drug experimentation with a psychoactive drug, known as LSD (Lysergic acid diethylamide) which he then experienced his first psychotic episode, that is recalled. From what we know, we can only assume that this was in fact the beginning of Daniel 's delusions and changes within his mannerisms. Other change that can be called on is an increase in aggression, loss of social queues, loss of self awareness and disassociation.…

As alluded to in her book, A Disease Called Childhood, in chapter seven, entitled “Let Food be Thy Medicine”, Marilyn Wedge claims that though there are some legitimate diagnoses of ADHD that are in need of attention and possibly medication, a child’s diet may be a sizable factor of their behavior. Wedge cites John E. Huxsahl from Mayo Clinic, using his article on processed foods to help her claim that food consumption can have a relation to ADHD. I agree with Wedge’s argument on multiple occasions that I will refer to throughout this essay; including personal experiences, experiments, and how other countries tackle additives in food. When my brother, Konnor, was younger, he was diagnosed with multiple behavioral disorders due to his inability…
