It felt like a race against time. I was pivoting around my bedroom at the speed of light. I had a million different thoughts running through my head. “I need my socks and basketball shoes for practice. I packed my student council shirt.…
I want to be in Leadership because I want to improve my skills and help others to do the right thing. Set direction, build an inspiring vision, and create something new. Become like an explorer, cutting a path through the jungle for the rest of his group to follow. Though, it’s mostly about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team; becoming dynamic and inspiring. I want to bring compelling visions to the group and help motivate and inspire them to help deliver that vision.…
I am interested in applying to SMU because it is a well rounded college. The business school at SMU is known for being fantastic and it really attracted me to the university. There seems to be a lot of school spirit around the athletic teams, most notably the football and basketball programs. Also, I really like the city of Dallas, even though I have only visited it a few times. I was particularly interested in the fact that SMU has a 11:1 student-faculty ratio because I like how the university can offer more individual attention.…
I am a first-year student at the University of Waterloo and interested in applying for the Technical Support position at your prestigious engineering Asus. My passion towards digital circuits and technology, and the hands-on-experience which I gained by working in a fast-paced technical environment. I would love to work at Asus, as it has constantly challenged conventions to provide creative engineering solutions to all customers. During my leisure time in high school, I spend my time researching and gathering knowledge about various gadgets and new technologies, and I would enjoy working with them as a co-op student at Asus.…
Personal Statement I remember learning GCSE History of the different ages us humans has gone through. From roughly 2400 BC where individuals had only the abacus for calculations to today where access to information is easily accessible on demand. What are these devices and how are they able to allow us to carry out such complex tasks so quickly and efficiently? This is what I am intrigued to know…
1. What are your reasons for applying to Rutgers University School of Social Work? Discuss how your personal, professional, and/or community experiences and values affected your decision? The most important influence for pursing a graduate degree at Rutgers University School of Social Work is to break down barriers and obstacles that have been placed in front of me.…
Becoming an AGPCNP will provide me with the knowledge and training to safely and effectively treat adult patients across the lifespan. Although I entered this program planning to work as an FNP, experiences during the pre-specialty year have confirmed my passion for the adult patient. Specifically, I hope to serve rural communities as a primary care provider, focusing my practice on the management of chronic disease in older adults. My passion for older adults is rooted in the experiences I had throughout the summers of my undergraduate career. I spent my summers with a nonprofit in rural North Carolina partnering with churches, social workers, and businesses to complete home repair for low-income families.…
Growing up near Springfield, I have spent a great deal of time on the ISU campus. My grandma is an alum; my aunt played volleyball for ISU in the 80s and now works in the athletic department; and my cousin is a current presidential scholar. I have visited Illinois State University numerous times. I have even cheered on my high school Rockets in Redbird Arena at state tournaments and attended graduation ceremonies and athletics camps several summers. Being so familiar with the campus makes me excited to attend.…
My pursuit of a medical degree is greatly strengthened by the Columbia University Public Health Scholars Program (SPHSP). Prior to matriculation from the program my source of motivation held no true direction, I wanted to simply “help people”. During SPHSP I was exposed to federally qualified health centers (FQHC) and my eyes were opened to new medium to help people. I admired the measures that FQHC put in place to effectively serve a population of people that, under normal circumstances, would not be able pursue healthcare. FQHCs aligned closely to the sense of equity that I began to develop as I was exposed to communities suffering from health disparities over the course of the internship.…
As a student who is currently learning science and taking place in a science extra-curricular, I can say that I have developed a passion and interest for it. Technology, another area in S.T.E.M., which I find captivating, shows us that technological advancements can truly change the world and make fascinating discoveries. It is science and technology, and all areas of S.T.E.M. that help us better understand our world. Discoveries made in other areas of study can all be rooted back to science, technology, engineering, and math. I believe I am a suitable candidate for this program because I understand that studying areas in S.T.E.M. are the foundation for making improvements and advancements in all other aspects of life.…
When I went on a tour of Virginia Military Institute, I knew that my future career would be combining a Military lifestyle with a computer or civil engineering. My desire to attend VMI started the day I visited the open house trip with my family. After I got home, I remembered how Captain John E. Riester immediately made me feel at home for his shorts introduction to Civil engineering. The school is different and unique with an outstanding reputation for its high-quality education in the Nation.…
I started the social work program at Oakland University in 2013 at that time my goal was to obtain my BSW with a minor in child welfare. My other goal was to work for the D.H.H.S in child protection services. I never thought about going further in my education mostly because I am a much older student and the amount of debt already accumulated seems slightly overwhelming. The other reason is my age itself, or at least it was. When starting out I let my age become a negative and always felt somewhat out of place.…
As I venture into my field placement, I have no reluctance to serve in any settings and/or with any population. I have learned through my 24 years in the human services field to expect the unexpected and be prepared for anything. I take things that are unfamiliar to me as an opportunity to learn and experience something new. At this time there are no personal issues that would impact my choice for a practicum site, and I have no previous, existing, or continuing health/medical conditions or other issues that would impact my placement. I have chosen the social work profession as my career choice because I have spent over half of my life serving others in a variety of positions.…
After research and analyzing desires, I have aspired to become a Physician Assistant. As one can pursue many paths and majors to obtain this career goal, I chose to enter the Medical Sciences program at the University of Cincinnati. This unique program is competitive and will provide advanced training in medicine and biomedical sciences. The medical sciences undergraduate program is the first of its kind to directly work with the corresponding College of Medicine and provide undergraduate students with the connections, experiential learning and mentoring programs. I am very excited and honored to be one of the sixty-five students selected to be apart of this program as the first step in my pursuit to become a Physician Assistant.…
All my life I have been interested in communication. I originally thought that communication was just a passion, but now I realize it is what I want to do as a career. Public relations is the communication between an organization and the public. I want to act as that link of communication and I truly believe I can do so with the education I am receiving from the A.Q. Miller School of Journalism.…
