APN Leader Interview Project Advanced practice nurse is registered nurse who has advanced clinical roles in nursing such as assessing a patient, diagnosing, ordering labs and providing treatment. They also play a leading role in coordinating health promotion by educating patient about their health condition. Clinical competence helps the advance practice nurse to achieve advance skills for assessing and meeting needs of the patient but it also helps to create a safe and trusty relationship with patient and help to collaborate with colleagues (Nieminen, Mannevaara &Fagerstrom, 2011). The purpose of this assignment is to understand how core competencies are helping NP to practice in a changing, ongoing environment to do critical thinking and managing unfamiliar clinical situations. The core competencies are as follows:
1. Scientific Foundation Competencies: Nurse practitioners (NPs) with advanced practice responsibilities continue focusing on prevention and relying on evidence to direct their practice (U. S. Preventive Services Task Force, 2014). This competency help nurse practitioner to do research to improve their knowledge and include evidence based practice in their service, to provide patient a safe, affordable, and quality care.
2. Leadership Competencies: NPs have a key leadership role in both in clinical and public health settings and should be aware and make maximum use of evidence based recommendation from both of these open- minded, independent task forces (USPSTF, 2014).
