1. Describe the mission, goals, and structure of the organization.
The mission and goals of APHA are to improve the health of the public, to achieve and create equity in health status, to build public health infrastructure and capacity, and to ensure the right to health and health care assess. Elected and appointed members direct APHA. For instance, the governing council of APHA elects the executive board (honorary members). There are 24-exceutive board members and they manage the structure of APHA and work in areas such as policy, management, deployment, program, and membership. The executive board members also hire the APHA executive director who establish and approves annual budgets for APHA work, and the director acts as a trustee of all association resources. The board resolves membership issues including supervision of election procedures and determining dues. Some APHA staff work at association headquarters in Washington, D.C, and others support association members and help to improve the APHA mission in achieving equity in health status. Other board members and committees also supervise publications, awards, science, and advocacy.
