It can be assumed that he simply went home and planted it. In contrast to the book, after receiving the last Truffula seed, Ted faced many obstacles before he would be able to plant the seed. In order for Ted to plant the last Truffula seed in Thneedville, he would have to get past Mr. O’Hare. Due to Mr. O’Hare’s influence in the town, getting past him was not easy. After an intense chase through the town, Thneedville, Ted was able to plant the Truffula tree in the town square. When the Thneedvilleans saw their need for Truffula trees, they got rid of Mr. O’Hare. As the tree grew, it reproduced and the Truffula trees began to repopulate Thneedville. To me the book seemed to be dull and unexciting. The book did not bring the characters to life as well as the movie did. In the movie I found that by drawing more emphasis to Ted’s life, the movie was more exciting. Some people may believe by putting extra emphasis on Ted’s life, in the movie, the story of the Lorax and the Once-ler becomes less important than it was in the book. I felt that by adding the conflict Ted faced with Mr. O Hare and by adding his crush on Audrey, the movie was more capable of drawing the audience’s attention. Both the book and the movie presented the same plot of not harming the atmosphere. The book used the story of how the Once-ler cut down all the trees and forced the animals to find new homes, to present the effects of harming the forest. The movie used the story of the Once-ler and the Lorax as well, to portray the dangers of harming the forest.
