AP Psychology Personal Statement

At gatherings adults would always ask me what I wanted to become. I would say something about how I was interested in becoming a vet or a teacher and they would smile and at how lovely that was. Such a simple question, yet, if I was to be completely honest the answer was that I had no clue. That is, until the start of my sophomore year of high school when I decided to take AP Psychology. I didn’t know too much about the subject but it seemed fairly intriguing. Little did I know that two years later and the class would’ve impacted my decisions for the future.
AP psychology was a class like no other I had ever taken. Being a generally more quiet and reserved person, this class forced me to come out of that zone of comfort and security. From group projects, to singing and even a project called Catharsis, which involved getting us even more out of our comfort zones, I discovered that I actually loved working with others and learning about people. Aside from learning about psychology in the class I also learned about who I was as a person. But the year was definitely worthwhile. I decided that the following year I wanted to become more involved in my school and find an organization that meant as much for me as my AP Psych class did. My junior year I joined two clubs that really caught my attention. Interact and Hosa. I wanted to follow my passions and work with others helping out in the community as well as learning about different professions in Hosa and competing. I grew to love both of these clubs so much that I am now an officer for both, and each of these organizations has influenced what I want to do with my
