A few months ago, when I was still in high school as a Senior I was placed in an AP English course because of the program I was in. The program placed all the students in the course regardless of if they were considered AP English ready. During the course, there were over several writing assignments, each on novels or quotes. However, my teacher kept informing me that my writing needs to improve to reach the college level. Yet I continued to complete assignments without understanding the mistakes, simply to earn the grade for because I turned an essay in. When I arrived at college, then enrolled in my UNIV150 course I was already advised that it was a bridge course to prepare me. Throughout the course, it has shown me where and what my mistakes are when I write. If I was directly placed in an ENGL110C course it would have meant I know how to write without making little to no mistakes. I am more prepared for an ENGL110C course because once I consider submitting an essay …show more content…

Then I look at the bottom of the paper and it reads “Proofread!” Now that I have learned to proofread to actually understand the error instead of changing it because I was told it was wrong. Now, I can point out my errors with the codes to help improve my own writing without having a peer

This quote by Vince Lombardi states, “We didn’t lose the game, we just ran out of time.” That quote approximately means that just because a scoreboard states that you lost a game doesn’t mean you didn’t have the potential in the end to beat a team with a little more time. Using that meaning of the quote, the reader can assume that this quote was wrote by someone like a coach of some kind which also helps the reader know that the audience must be athletes. With that, people can infer that this coach was trying to invoke…

It feels like so long ago when I first began this English course. I can remember being so excited about the class topic, racism and social justice, which I felt that I had a lot of passion for. Little did I know that I would have to gather up even more enthusiasm and passion to be able to continue writing papers about the same topic all semester long. This course has tested my endurance, and at many times my patience, and for that I am thankful because I know in the end, it has made me a better writer. Despite various minor challenges this semester I believe that I have put in the hard work that it takes and I have achieved the course goals and will complete this class feeling fulfilled and accomplished.…

After my completion of AP English junior year, I felt better than ever about my writing. Although it is okay to be confident in your skills, I entered this year with a sense of satisfaction and no desire to take my writing abilities to the next level. Due to this lack of ambition, I haphazardly threw my first week essay together and genuinely thought my teacher would be in awe over my skills- as I was only a senior entering a college course. When I received my grade, I was shocked to see that I had been placed into the scoring category of “weak”, and my teacher ultimately wasn’t so pleased after all. After some reflection, I reached the conclusion that my teacher was right- I deserved that five out of twenty.…
