AP Class Reflection

Despite the fact that I have faced challenges with the subject as of late, I would consider English to be one of my favorites. During my junior year, I was enrolled in AP English Language and Composition, and although it was the only class I did not receive an A grade in, it, without a doubt, altered how I perceive the world. English did not only improve my writing and analytical skills, but it also prepared me for life beyond my education. Being an AP class, the curriculum was designed to help me get the best score that I could on the AP test. Almost every class period, a discussion would be held regarding a specific topic, typically related to the unit we were focusing on at the time. It invigorated me, being able to share my opinions in

The best class i have ever taken was "Collage as Refuge". I had to take this class as a last minute resort this past summer and i am so happy i did. I enjoyed it because it first made you choose a place you love, whether it be in nature or a building and visit it every day. we kept a journal on what was going on in our lives. i liked this approach because as many know being a student and working full time can be crazy and to be able to take an hour out of my day to reflect helped.…

Short Term 12 was a very interesting movie. It had hints of being realistic, but with aspects where you knew it was a movie. It’s about a group of workers who work in a foster care residential facility setting. The main character, Grace, deals with her own personal struggles while she supervises the children at the facility. I have a short bit of experience at a facility like Short Term 12 in some aspects; I can see where parts of the movie are realistic and where are some are an exaggeration because it is a movie.…

I am taking four AP courses this year, along with others to supplement my high school career. Recently, I have found AP Psychology extremely rewarding. AP Psychology astounds me and allows me to rediscover what being human means. With this course, I can go deeper into the human mind and the ways that our minds function. The biological, or innate, aspects of the human mind and body are incredible, but studying about the functions and ideas beyond that aspect allow me to gain an extensive understanding of people and myself.…

Out of all of the subjects I take in school, my favorite would have to be writing. I enjoy this form expression through words, and also enjoy reading expression through words. Writing allows me to express my feelings, thoughts, or emotions; I can put my mind and all of its thoughts up on display for all to be able to read and see. Through writing (and reading) I can read other’s ideas and works, and I can benefit from those. I can compare my thoughts with others, and teach and learn through writing and reading, creating a sort of symbiotic relationship between me and others.…

Title Enrolling the EOF program has lighten up a path in life that would have gone completely undiscovered had I walked alone. Along the path was my introduction to college writing, a class that has improved my writing skills profoundly. At first the tasks given to us on the syllabus seemed daunting, almost insurmountable within the five-week period of the program; it seemed even more inconceivable with the class being only twice a week. However, with the guidance and instruction given to me by the professor and peers I was able to strengthen my work as a student.…

Taking the Predictive Index exam was intimidating at first, but after completing the exam it was not so bad afterall. In the process of waiting for the results, finding out I’m a High C was not so shocking for me to discover. The behavioral factor in which a high C needs to function is patience which I agree is pretty accurate based off my PI exam as well as my daily behaviors, such as being patience in the workforce, public and with others around me. The primary motivational factors for a High C are that they need a stable work environment, is service oriented, deliberate, consistent, needs time to think, and is recognized for loyalty. Being a High C I need to be in a stable work environment, which I agree with because as my PI exam mentions…

My experience as a writer or communicator would have been considered well below average if I was asked just a few years ago, however, I feel that during my time at Robert Morris this has improved. From this class specifically, I wish to gain an understanding of communication outside of college academics. In my Capstone course, the teacher did not want anything aside from the citations written in APA or MLA. He felt that if this was not known by now it would not be learned and furthermore, he felt it had no standing outside of academics. I have spent the past fifteen years in the military and communication in the military is vastly different than that of the civilian world.…

English 219 was my first college level English course, and through attending and completing all of the assignments I have learned many skills that I believe will greatly help me in my future courses in college. Next semester I am enrolled in English 220, and after having taken this course I feel substantially better about continuing on with English courses at a college level. It has helped me to become more confident in my writing skills and provided me with an excellent basis for me to continue on with next semester, and throughout the rest of my schooling experience. Throughout this class I have learned many things, but perhaps the most important is the steps to writing an essay, and the planning options.…

Written language is a trait known to be only possessed by mankind. Although other species may have audible forms of communication, man is able to record and document his thoughts, feelings, or events that have unfolded in a way that can be viewed multiple times without him having to use his voice over and over. Literacy is a skill that adults in the United States are expected to have; but the level of your literacy says a lot about you and can have a tremendous impact on what career you end up in. For this reason, this college English class is a requirement for all those seeking a degree. Not only did I learn how to think of subjects and topics more objectively, but I learned a multitude of different modes and strategies I can employ in my writing.…
