AP Class Reflection Essay

During my junior year I took an AP class for the first time. The AP class is AP US History; the class goes at a much faster pace than regular history class and there were more assignment because we have to finish learning everything by May to be prepared for the AP test. Having taken an AP class for the first time I realize it not as terrible as I though it would be. I hesitated many times when I decided to sign up for the class becuase I was afriad that I might not meet the expectations of the course. I didn’t trust and believe in myself, causing me to almost lose the chance to experience and see for myself what an AP class would feel like.
Each week we would have to read two chapters; one from the main textbook and another book by Zinn Howard called the People of United State History. Plus there were questions that came along with the reading and we also have to do a set of vocabulary for a chapter. Not just that, but there also other class work. Athough it was a struggle to be at the same pace with the class and the fact that content in the textbook makes it more diffcult and challenging to understand, added more obstacle and stress since english is not my first language. Even though the class was diffcult and I struggled with the content, I still tried my best to accomplish what was assigned and try my best to understand

Sure enough, all my hard work pay off, allowed me to pass the class with a decent grade. Not only did I get a grade way off my expectation, but I was also able to experience such a great opportunity. After passing the class, I realized that AP us history goes more in depth about American history, and American history is not as great as I thought it was. More generally, this course, had changed my perspective of what an AP class is really like and the bright United State history that is

AP Chemistry has made me realize that you need to work hard for the things you want. AP Chemistry is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. It was full of hard concepts and ideas that I could not seem to understand. Most times, I stayed up studying for tests until three in the morning. My teacher had tests that were based on past AP exams and in order to reach the highest score, a five, you usually needed to get a minimum percentage of seventy percent.…

I remembered sitting in my grey room, stressing out with a blushed face hoping to reach the deadline at 11:59 p.m. When I received my grade, I was not happy at all. This was the turning point for me and I finally came to a realization that I needed to focus on my school work and apply the knowledge and study skills that I was…

Ten seconds after shouting at the top of her lungs for me to get up, my mother begins her day as she always does, providing my father, younger siblings and I with a meal. Which usually consists of the crispy black goya beans and medium sized white eggs all wrapped in a soft warm corn tortilla, I was thirteen when my mom was seven months pregnant, nearly fainted from exhaustion from cleaning houses, but it was not an option, my father's income was just not sufficient enough to support three children and an incoming one. I decided to enroll in AP Government and Economics it is the class that has the most utility for me. Starting towards the middle of freshman year in Honors Global History, I thought going into a higher history class was a good idea, so I decided to enroll in AP US History, which was one of the better decisions in my life. That class was a good experience so I wanted to take AP again in junior year. There are multiple benefits that drove me to make this decision; the first is content. In every single class in school (maybe except for math), I want to learn the most about that subject so AP would provide the huge benefit of having the most content so I would learn the most about the government and macroeconomics.…

After looking back, I realized I didn’t study as much as I should have in the weeks preceding the test. I did not make that same mistake during my Junior year, during which I had two AP test: U.S. History and English. This time around I started almost a month before the tests and I made sure I studied hard. I took the a portion of time everyday to study for both of those tests while I had done the work in my other classes. When I took them in May, I felt more confident than the year before hand and I was able to achieve a four-point two GPA during the semester.…

After studying almost all night, I went to class on those days feeling nervous, but prepared.…

but it seemed fairly intriguing. Little did I know that two years later and the class would’ve impacted my decisions for the future. AP psychology was a class like no other I had ever taken. Being a generally more quiet and reserved person, this class forced me to come out of that zone of comfort and security. From group projects, to singing and even a project called Catharsis, which involved getting us even more out of our comfort zones, I discovered that I actually loved working with others and learning about people.…

Previously, I had been exposed to a lot of writing and reading in my AP English Language and Composition and AP English Literature classes in high school. The writing skills that I had learned in both classes dealt with analysis papers pertaining to a specific prompt or style. I also had been exposed to lots of literature, specifically short novels and poetry that I had to interpret. My high school AP English classes prepped me for the college level writing class at High Point University.…
