The directions said stop but I continued pouring the base because I wanted see how fast the analyte would turn pink in our titration lab. I was in awe trying to connect the bases and acids in my head to figure out what this lab meant exactly in my AP Chemistry class. Science has always fascinated me but when I decided to take this course, it was a whole new level. My chemistry teacher told me this course would be a challenge and it wasn't until I was in the course, that I realized he was completely right. Sure it was a challenge, but it was also fascinating to understand the chemistry behind all that exists and knowing that every single object is made up of complex chemicals, simply blew my mind. From beginning to the end of the course, there wasn't a part of Chemistry that I didn't find interesting in anyway. …show more content…
I've always liked math too so when I took AP chemistry and it contained chemistry and math, I was all for it. Discussing this with my AP Chemistry teacher helped me decide what I wanted to pursue. There were days where I would stay after school in his class so we could discuss the different engineering and some possible careers. The reason I wanted to pursue Engineering is because it also involves using your mind to understand and create new

My choice to have biochemistry as my major was the most logical, because for all of my life I have been interested in what life is composed of. I looked at the incredible things that people and animals do and I found that all the intricate working of biology and chemistry that made all of their actions possible, only added to the awesomeness of it all. Another important factor in my life that started my interest into the science of biology was my mother, who has a genetic anemia called Fanconi Anemia. She has lived with this genetic disease for all of her life and it has had a toll on her quality of life. From my earliest memories she has struggled with blood transfusions and bone marrow biopsies.…

I found this to be very useful as many of the chemistry stories and scientific explanations went right over my head. The book covers every aspect of science that I could think of. So much of what I learned while reading this book involved much more than just chemistry. I learned about history, alchemy, astrohistory, math, geology, and mythology. At times it seemed as if I was reading a textbook, with how much information there was.…

My interest in physics was initially ignited during my sophomore year. I signed up for AP Physics 1, taught by a teacher in his first year, right out of college. His main goal was to encourage students to apply physics to the world around them and identify the relevancy of the course material. I was immediately hooked and I bought book after book about Einstein's Theory of Relativity, the Big Bang, and quantum mechanics. I was eager to learn as much as I could; in doing so, I realized that working in a laboratory setting, conducting experiments and applying equations, is something that I am truly passionate about.…

AP Chemistry has made me realize that you need to work hard for the things you want. AP Chemistry is by far the hardest class I have ever taken. It was full of hard concepts and ideas that I could not seem to understand. Most times, I stayed up studying for tests until three in the morning. My teacher had tests that were based on past AP exams and in order to reach the highest score, a five, you usually needed to get a minimum percentage of seventy percent.…

I received a 4 on both AP biology and chemistry which correlates to me being well qualified in both areas of study. In AP biology I learned important skills in microbiology such as gel electrophoresis and gene transformation which allowed me to work closely with DNA sequences and how they affect phenotypes. Being familiar with genetics and DNA sequences would allow me to learn quickly in the lab when dealing with the topics of gene regulation and microbiology. Through AP chemistry I was also able to experience hands on lab work. I have worked with dangerous chemicals and worked in a fume hood, learning the importance of lab safety and precision.…

The law as a moral guide in society and its influence on crime interests me immensely; from the size of cones on a motorway to buying a coffee, everything involves some aspect of the law. My interest in Law stemmed from the debated link between law and philosophy. Through studying A-Level Philosophy I have been able to explore philosophical ideas such as morality and their link to law and crime. Such as the idea of 'Rule Utilitarianism' and how our society functions on its basic ideologies. Each law is based on the outcome which would be morally accepted by the majority, however, does the law truly always lead to the moral outcome?…
