ALS and CTE TAKE OVER the WORLD
ALS and CTE’s are two of the worst diseases out there, but it affects more of a certain group athletes. ALS is a disease that affects the body, but not the mind. This disease slowly kills the motor neurons and stops all body functions except for eye movement and the function of the brain. CTE however, is a disease that affects the brain by swelling and shrinking, it causes damage by releasing toxic proteins. Concussions are a part of the problem when it comes to ALS and CTE’s because if you get a concussion and don’t treat it properly it can lead to second impact syndrome. ALS is probably the worst disease out there just because your body is withering away while your brain is still fully functional. CTE is a disease that people just don’t understand the magnitude of yet because of how people it is caused and their is nothing being done to really prevent it from happening. Concussions and head trauma are the main reasons for ALS and CTE’s because of how the head is getting hit it is causing the brain to be thrown around and bleed or release a toxic protein that poisons the brain. Boys and girls are affected differently than each other because guys have stronger necks and are physically stronger than girls are it gives guys an advantage to not get concussed so easily. Girls aslo get unequally safety from doctors and trainers because the symptoms of a concussion are similar to those of a girl when she is on her period. There are no professional sporting associations that are doing anything to help with ALS and CTE’s. The NFL is the only sporting association trying to help by donating money toward research to help find a cure for this diseases. Head trauma in professional sports is a big issue today they should change some rules in these sports to further help preventing this injuries that later in life become big issues, but not so much that it’s not the same game
