As the PSQ-18 was developed with the goal of creating an abbreviated edition of the most recent iteration of the full length form (PSQ-III), it should be necessary to establish the validity of the PSQ family of instruments. According to Marshall, Hays, Sherbourne, & Wells (1993) the PSQ-III was previously identified as being capable of providing accurate representations of global satisfaction levels as measured for specific instances of interaction with the healthcare system. Given that many of the items included within the PSQ-18 were taken directly from the PSQ-III, one would expect for a high correlation between the two instruments (Marshall & Hays, 1994).
