I have been looking forward to applying to the AIM program for the past 3 years. I attended the Naval Academy STEM program going into my freshman year and I enjoyed every minute of the amazing week there. In eighth grade for STEM week I was given an assignment to put together a presentation on a future career we would like to pursue, going to a school on a Coast Guard base (Borinquen Air Station), I had a great interest in joining the military. Helicopters flew over my house weekly, they never failed to amaze me and I knew working with aircraft was my highest goal for me and it remains that way today. I would like to attend the AIM program this summer because I believe it will allow me to reach a better understanding of how cadet life will

I would make a strong addition to the Junior Board because I believe that my professional journey represents the Lime Connect’s mission of “rebranding disability through achievement”. I first met Lime Connect when I was in tenth grade and entered a Lime Connect essay contest that was sponsored by the New York City Department of Education. At this event, I met Susan and was instantly inspired by the Lime Connect’s innovative approach to redefining disability. I later had the opportunity to apply to the fellowship and fully immerse myself in the Lime Connect community. When it came time to apply for full time positions, I knew that I wanted to apply to Lime’s partners because I knew that they would be inclusive environments.…

Become like an explorer, cutting a path through the jungle for the rest of his group to follow. Though, it’s mostly about mapping out where you need to go to “win” as a team; becoming dynamic and inspiring. I want to bring compelling visions to the group and help motivate and inspire them to help deliver that vision.…

The events portrayed in the video filled me with a desire to stand with the cadet candidates, persevering through any difficulties thrown their way to achieve a bigger goal, making their families proud and making something for themselves. In addition, I want to go out a make a difference to those in my community and my country. The extremely appealing aspect towards attending the academy, to me, is that the academy is a place in which hard work, integrity, leadership and values determine status as opposed to most other schools in which gender, race and or economic status determines the status of a student; due to this, I strongly believe that the academy is a place in which I will excel and reach my…

I dashed to the art room of my high school, sweat still dripped from my back. Although I had just finish a volleyball match, I still needed to make final revisions to the yearbook. In 2010, I was a promising young professional leading public relations and marketing campaigns for clean technology companies. My career was thriving: I worked alongside the brightest minds in Silicon Valley, at a leading venture capital firm. The firm had recently doubled down investments in the clean technology sector and the solar, electric vehicle, biofuel and lighting technologies we invested in were poised to disrupt incumbent industries. My colleagues and I believed that these technologies would positively impact the world we live in by preserving natural resources and minimizing our environmental impact. The experience was incredible and provided me the opportunity to make a great living while working in a sector greater than myself, in something that I believed would change the world.…

As I reflect on my personal life I value life itself to the point I live each day not knowing what to expect the next day. Positivity is a major factor in all that I do to the point of trying to view all things in a positive way and leaving the negativity out the door. As a mother, partner, educator, and entrepreneur I strive to be mindful, spiritual, and conscious of all my actions. I value these things because this is what makes up my life and what I live for each day. My life is a fourth generation person and I relate because I “want to live, love, learn, and leave it like a seed with balance and joy" (Covey, 73) the quality of my life is more important than planning it out.…
