Brazil has yet to take care of the overcrowding prison situation, but the Ministry of Health has helped by providing education, treatment, prevention, and condom and needle programs. Although this has helped the prisons, it still does not change the fact that it is overcrowded. Brazil can come up with a $1.6 million budget to expand and build more prisons. Overcrowding can lead to long waits for the shower, food and telephone calls, which can result into violence and stress release using drugs.
