As in every area of life, boundaries are needed to ensure that we keep the right path. As accounting professionals, the AICPA’s Code of Professional Conduct provides such guidance. The code helps to set boundaries for accounting professionals’ interactions with the public, their clients, and also their colleagues (AICPA, 2014, p. 5). The integrity principle speaks to the importance of integrity and includes other characteristics such as courage, honesty, confidentiality, and trust (Keller, Smith, K., & Smith, L., 2007).
