n Percy Jackson and the Olympians Percy Jackson has been diagnosed with ADHD ( attention deficit hyperactivity disorder) . The three main traits of an ADHD child is inattention, hyperactivity, and impulsivity. Percy Jackson does not have ADHD because he would get distracted in battles, he is not impulsive , and he is not hyperactive. First and foremost, Percy Jackson doesn't have ADHD because he would get distracted during fights and battles. ADHD is an “ attention deficit hyperactivity disorder”. During the capture the flag game they won because Percy was able to concentrate on what he needed to do, which was to protect the flag from the opposing team. If he had ADHD the he would have inattention which is “Finds it hard to concentrate and jumps from one activity to another.” This information was found in an article about ADHD written by Amanda Morin. So he did not get bored with the task on hand and his mind was only on the fight he had to deal with. His mind was clear during the Medusa fight because if he was not concentrating he would have turned to stone. …show more content…
One symptom of ADHD is being impulsive. Impulsive is “ Doesn’t seem to think before he acts, May blurt out inappropriate comments, May run into the street without looking, or get into situations without thinking about the consequences, Has trouble waiting for things he wants or taking turns, May grab something from another person or hit someone when they are upset.” This was in a paragraph about what impulsive means when you have ADHD. Another piece of good information about impulsivity is “ Overreacts to feelings and emotional situations”, this article was also written by Amanda Morin. In the book Percy Jackson holds back his feeling and doesn't tell Annabell and Grover how he feels and about the dreams that a calling him to get them out and retrieve
