ADHD Reflective Report

In this unit I incorporated more movement, therefore, the SPED students and ones with ADHD were more successful than in the past. I have been effective in encouraging empathy in these students. They now help others other students and all students are more emphatic when anyone struggles in class. I have effectively taught students to collaborate and better communicate using the strategies in this unit. The students were able to answer the questions that related to the activities they were engaged in. In the future, I will use the movement to review not just as an activity. Students that were absent during the activities were tutored by the ones that were present. This reinforced the learning for those teaching and allowed the learners to catch up. It also reinforced social skills, and all the students are more engaged. In this unit, there are more activities I will add in the future. I will add more real world problems that the students design. Students working together to build a tower from blocks showed me students playing, created interest, creativity, engagement as well as the teaching and learning opportunities that I focused on. I hoped I would learn how to reach the unreachable parent. Text, email, letters and phone calls that are praising their child have been ineffective in creating two-way communication. I know the parents that are intimidated by the school can be reached with these methods as well as parents that have little education. Students are taking responsibility for their actions, and more engaged at school. I have helped them to better cope with their unstable lives, and see beyond it and want to change their future. I do not know what contributes to the apathy concerning education or lack of involvement of some parents. Those are the parents of my students that I am trying to
