Resident Knowles asked PA Howard if AD Elisa Espinosa was in and if she could please talk to her if so. PA Howard informed Resident Knowles that AD Espinosa was out to lunch and if she would like to leave AD Espinosa a message. Resident Knowles then proceeds to ask if maybe PA Howard could help her with her problem. PA Howard responded she could try. Resident Knowles then went on to state that she needed to talk to AD Espinosa about switching rooms, because she had a panic attack a few weeks ago that caused her to end up in the hostpial.…

b) Extract of email from the nurse practitioner Ms. Jones prefers: Gerald W. Hall, Robins AFB, demonstrates the level of care provided through the military health system. I have requested and even offered to pay for a MD or a qualified specialist to see my daughter, but the Court and my ex-wife have refused to even consider a second opinion. “I have 1200 children I give care for, on average 30/day.” The nurse in spite of his incredible workload, and in accordance with the mother's desire, was able to quickly diagnose and prescribe ADHD medication to my youngest daughter with “ADHD”.…

1.Provide a script of a Clinical Psychologist's description to their patient with a trauma disorder (Acute or Post) in terms of the neuroscience features---what changes in their brain functioning may be occurring as a function of the condition. What you are experiencing is called PTSD. When someone suffers a trauma, any type of trauma, the brain and body react. A trauma-related neuropathway is created that can be repeatedly reactivated, for some these changes pass in a few weeks, the disruption in mood or dreams does not last long. For others the symptoms can remain and start to interfere with day to day life.…
How would you feel if you were unable to effectively communicate your feelings and emotions? Would you become frustrated, depressed, or even angry? Alzheimer’s disease affects numerous people, in fact one in ten people age 65 or older has Alzheimer’s dementia. Alzheimer’s causes memory loss and gradually diminishes a person’s ability to communicate; therefore, learning how to effectively communicate with those who have Alzheimer’s is very important. Good communication with an Alzheimer’s patient can be challenging, but will greatly enhance the quality of life of someone who has Alzheimer’s.…
D.D., is one of my patients who was admitted for hip replacement surgery, and had diagnoses of dementia. The afternoons are very hard for her and she is very emotional. She has time when she is very depressed or very hostile with the therapist. Since she has dementia there is no new learning with her hip precautions or carryover with the treatment she receives daily.…
1. Dementia of the Alzheimer type (DAT) is an ongoing acute neurodegenerative sickness described by declining in intellect and memory, continuing damage in the power to perform day to day activities. DAT is the largest characteristic of dementia amongst seniors and makes up roughly two-thirds of events of dementia and linking sixty and seventy percentile of cases of progressive cognitive impairment in older adults. The occurrence of DAT is likely to increase as the people grow old. When it comes to diagnosing DAT, there are not any conclusive model or assessments, excluding brain biopsy, for diagnosis.…
Even after extensive research, the epidemiology of ADHD is still hard to pinpoint. Most health professionals believe that the disorder is a neurological disorder that is present at birth or develops during early childhood, but some do disagree. The disorder has a prevalence of approximately 5-12% in children, 8.7% in adolescents, and 4% adults. From a genetic basis, it has been determined that ADHD has a heritability rate that ranges from 75-91%, and parents and siblings of a child with ADHD are 2 to 8 times more likely to have ADHD. No one gene has been identified as the cause for the disorder, and it also suggested that it may be the result of mutations in multiple genes (Kearney, 2012).…
Introduction: 2% of the population over the age of 75 suffers from both dementia and visual impairment. Physicians often find it challenging to administer the available outpatient cognitive assessment tools, which require functional vision to diagnose dementia. Case: A 62-year-old African-American woman with history of hypertension, type-2 diabetes mellitus, peripheral neuropathy and legal blindness from Diabetic retinopathy presented for a routine evaluation. Patient was accompanied by her husband who expressed concerns that for the past six months, patient was being forgetful of instructions and had trouble remembering conversations, which the patient had denied. Patient had no fever, headache, dizziness, muscle weakness, weight changes,…
The association between Dementia and Alzheimer’s is commonly misinterpreted to be interchangeable, however, this is an incorrect belief because the mental decline is a normal part of aging. Dementia is not a specific disease and is often referred to as “senility” however this is a general term used for describing the gradual decline in the individual’s mental ability which can become severe enough to restrict daily living activities which can be caused by numerous conditions such as memory loss and daily mental functions like reasoning. The most common type of dementia is Alzheimer’s Disease which is seen in the elderly population (Alzheimer’s Association, 2014; Lu, & Bludau, 2011). The second most common type of dementia is vascular dementia,…
I currently work full time at a nursing home as a state-tested nurse aide. My job is to assist people who cannot care for themselves to perform basic care that is required on a daily basis. A few of my job duties include helping residents of this facility with bathing, getting dressed each morning, brushing their teeth, assisting them in eating their meals, and taking them to the restroom,. That is just a small amount of tasks I complete in during an exhausting 12-hour shift. In the medical field, this care is called activities of daily living, or ADL’s for short.…
In a similar study by Gentry and Fisher (2007), also hope to evaluate listener response as well as indirect and direct repairs. From this study, researchers found that responses from that indirect repair function to reinforce speech by decreasing the risk of excess verbal deficits in individuals with AD. These direct and indirect treatment forms, thereby will improve quality of life for persons with AD and slowdown the progression of this neurodegenerative…
Two years ago, my boyfriend, who at the time was not my boyfriend, was diagnosed with this very rare disease. At the time he was going through this awful experience, I did not know him and had not even been living in this state. When I moved to Maine and met him, everyone around him had gone through this experience with him. They all knew of this disease and the details behind it. I always felt left out that out of all people, his own girlfriend did not know about what he went though.…
Alzheimer’s disease (AD), was discovered as senile form of dementia in early 1907 by Alois Alzheimer in 1907. Since then the disease has been researched and studied to generate a knowledge base of symptoms, etiology, pathogenesis, treatment and management of the disease. AD is differentiated from senile dementia due to the neurodegenerative process which involves deposits of protein known as amyloid in neurons and neurofibrillary tangles which form plaques. This formation of plaques leads to neuron death and the hardening of tissue leads to progressive and terminal neurological disease state. There has been no cure to Alzheimer’s disease to the complexity of disease and the lack of understanding of amyloid protein and its process.…
