Colleges don't just use ACT and SAT scores to determine what class a student will be in; they may use previous classes and other criteria to make that judgement. “Higher the score, the higher the chance of being put in a higher class.”(prepschool.com) ACT and SAT scores aren't just used to get into college, they are also used for PreMed and law school. They have to choose the best students because each year they are limited to how many students they can accept. For example, Stanford has a 4.2% acceptance rate compared to Oregon who has a 74.9% acceptance rate. Ivy league schools have a much lower acceptance rate compared to a normal state University.
