The ACA is favorable because it ensures that the estimated thirty-seven million to forty-five million Americans who did not have health insurance in the past are now able to get health insurance. With the ACA, Americans are reassured that they will get taken care of without having to worry if they have insurance or not. Given that many people did not have health insurance due to it not being affordable for them caused them to not get the preventive care they needed. The ACA is beneficial because the price you pay for health insurance is based off your income. The higher your income is, the higher the price will be for health insurance. According to the article, Canada has a higher life expectancy of 80.54 years compared to the United States which has a life expectancy of 77.97 years. The reason Canada has a better health care system than the United States is due to the fact that Canadians has a single-payer system where the government pays for the basic coverage through the taxes they pay. (Eves, 78) I believe the system of the government plays a significant role in providing health care. Canada is a socialist country, so they focus more on the social aspect of life, contrary to the United States which is a capitalism system of government. In the United States, it is all about money. The individuals with more money will always be better off. If everyone could benefit from the basic cost of coverage that will make the United States a healthier, safer, and better country. Obesity, mental health, and chronic diseases or illnesses will be looked at with care and
