In the ACA code of ethics (2014), section B.1.d, counselors need to explain the limitations of confidentiality in the beginning during the intake so the client, and her parents will know what they are getting into. Comparing states, in Florida, the Florida Statue section 39.205 (1) (2017), states that a person who does not report it to the right authorities, it is a felony in the third degree.
