As ABC of NC’s present executive director, I am requesting $28,000 from Ronald McDonald House Charities to fund the building of two shade structures on ABC of NC playgrounds. These playgrounds are home to children ranging in ages from two to twenty-two with autism spectrum disorder (autism or ASD). Because ABC of NC is the only clinical, educational, and therapeutic provider to families with autism in North Carolina, and 1 and 58 children in North Carolina are diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder; it is imperative for us to have the safest and protected playground for children to use and enjoy.

ABC is requesting the funds to build two shade structures to shield our two playgrounds from the sun. It is vital to cover both playgrounds as

In the past year, ABC of NC provided services to over 335 individuals with autism from fourteen counties in North Carolina, most of whom spent time playing, participating in behavior therapy sessions and developing skills many children with autism lack such as communication skills, appropriate play skills, and social skills on our playgrounds. These shade structures will make a difference in the lives of all of our students, providing them with a playground they can use year round protected from the sun. With the funds that we are requesting, we could far exceed our mission of a safe playground for the children of ABC and create a brighter future for ABC and children with autism.

Thank you in advance for considering us for this Ronald McDonald House Charities grant. Please feel free to reach out if you have any specific questions that I can to assist
