ABA Example Of B-Behavior Analysis

Decent Essays
According to ABA principals, positive reinforcement behavioral learning played a significant role in my life. The behavior I wanted to change was to lose weight and this is my ABC data:

A-Antecedent- I was very active before having my child, but after a while, I started noticing that nothing would fit me and started buying bigger clothes. I felt exhausted all the time and I started to snack a lot which it made easier to gain weight.

B-Behavior- I started by creating a chart to monitor my progress and exercising every day for 30 minutes, I also modified my diet. By reinforcing the desire to lose the weight I would go to the stores to look at clothes that I would like to wear. In addition, I set up a time to reach my goal of losing 20 pounds.

In Operant Conditioning some factual points that stood out to me were two-forms of positive and negative reinforcement and punishment. With the use of positive and negative reinforcement to increase or decrease a behavior could be rewarding in molding behaviors in most cases. With the use of operant conditioning, this could also be a great tool to use outside of the classroom. (Positive reinforcement) If a Childs (Behavior) is good during class (Consequence) a parent could praise them on it and treat them out, etc., for such good behavior at school and then (future behavior) the child would continue their progress of behaving in class.…

For changing my behavior, operant conditioning, which is when I gave myself a negative punishment, seemed to help decrease my behavior. Since I really wanted my reward of candy at the end of the day I didn’t bit my nails. Positive reinforcement is another way that could have helped for influencing my behavior. When I acknowledged that I was not biting my nails and they were placed in my lap, it would have been effective to reward myself. Instead of looking forward to a reward at the end of the day I would have been looking forward to a reward every time I was taking a test.…
