I believe it has value to me because the focus is on both knowledge and skills and I believe this checklist can be used to assess my long-term counseling/consulting effectiveness as well. The first item on the checklist is “knowledge of theory and research”. Typically, the first few items on such a checklist signify the priority. Think about this for a second….theory and research. That’s what we are doing now. This checklist suggests that what we are learning in this class is a top priority for now and in the future. We need to always be thinking about developing theory and then how we can apply that theory to helping other strive for peak performance. Next in the checklist, are the basic principles of applied sport psychology to include the latest and greatest means of applying the basic mental training tools and skills. These are our core skills and the heartbeat of our profession. I believe these first two items on the checklist should have their own mini-checklist and I plan to develop one for myself...page 3 hits on a lot of these
