A1: I believe my two personality profile strengths are openness to experience and conscientiousness. As a child, I was always open to new experiences. I was eager to attend any outdoor activity with my dad, help with any sewing project my mother was working on, or watch my grandmothers cook recipes from scratch. As an adult, I continue to say yes to nearly every new opportunity. I have a plethora of hobbies, ranging from knitting to fishing. I have experience in multiple industries, and continue to find myself interested in moving my career in a direction that would offer a new atmosphere and challenge. I am conscientiousness in that I am stubborn. If I commit to something, I will not give up until I have achieved my task to the best of my ability, exploring every avenue I can think of. I am driven to complete my goals, and am addicted to the since of accomplishment I feel when I have finished. I keep my promises, and strive to do well at everything I do. My success in my work, home, and relationships is attributed to being conscientious and open to new experiences. A1a: As a new student to Western Governors University, I am ecstatic about the new experiences, and goals set before me. In my short time, I have immediately been challenged with this very assignment. Writing is something I normally feel comfortable with, but this task has pushed me from my comfort with the subject and format. Looking into my own personality has definitely been a new experience, because I do not normally enjoy discussing my own strengths and weaknesses. My writing strategy always follows a beginning, middle, and end flow, but this assignment has allowed me to create a new process for myself. I am confident I will do well, with this task and all others in my future at WGU, because I thoroughly enjoy learning new things, and am oriented to achieve my goal of completing my Bachelor’s Degree. A2: Agreeableness and emotional stability are, in my opinion, my weaknesses. Agreeableness can be a strength, but too much of it is a weakness. When I am more capable of a healthy level of agreeableness, I am able to have healthy work relationships, without losing the respect of my peers. In an effort to avoid confrontation, I sometimes let people stifle me and be disrespectful. Sometimes, I grow quiet because I am too soft-hearted to speak up and voice my opinion. I am a good-natured person who will continue to give anyone chance after chance, because I always see the best in a person. My emotional stability is affected by the emotional atmosphere which affects my mood. I am very empathetic, and when my co-workers are in certain moods, I let my mood mirror theirs. This is reason for the days when I go home feeling less than accomplished. A2a: Six years ago, I decided to become …show more content…
The relationship between success and goals is symbiotic, as one cannot easily be achieved without the other. A difficult goal thought out with this theory in mind can be achieved by only one person, a few people or a large group. Frequent reviews of forward progress are needed, and consistency is a necessary tool for goal achievement. It is important to inspect the methods that are working and discontinue methods that are not. A key point in this theory is that goals must be specific, and I believe this to be extremely important. Realizing a goal can feel empty with no clear and concise description, because there is too much room for error. It would be the difference in setting a goal to pass a class, and setting a goal to make an “A. When specific goals are met, facilitated by the appropriate atmosphere, a sense of achievement can set a tone for an entire team. I plan to put this theory to work in my own life, and in my workplace. I work at a salon as a hairdresser, and we are suffering from a serious lack in retail sales. While we are a well working team, we need more organized motivation to increase profits from products, and in turn positivity will increase from our sense of accomplishment. With a specific monthly retail sales goal, including weekly reviews, and a variety of sales tools, our profit could increase exponentially. If we follow the Goal Setting Theory for individuals and the team, I believe our salon will achieve the greatness of which we have been
