Have you ever wondered how to build a windmill? Or basically anything out of paper? Well, like William Kamkwamba did in the story, “A Young Tinkerer Builds a Windmill, Electrifying a Nation”, I will be demonstrating how to build a windmill, but out of paper.
First and Foremost, you will need to have the supplies needed for the windmill! Can you guess which comes first? It’s not that laborious, all you need is paper! The most important detail you’ll need for making a windmill is making sure that it’s the right size, just like William did! Using measurements is very helpful in this activity. So, you will need to cut out two 20 centimeter squares of paper. If you want to make the windmill even more exciting, knock yourself out and add color! Color always makes things pop out more!

Making sure the edges are complement and matched will give you a much straighter and better line. Then once you have done that, you shall fold the paper diagonally and openly flatten it a bit. Immediately after, fold it again, but the opposite direction. Easy, right? Imagine being in William’s position and making a real life windmill, must be arduous. Afterwards, the next step isn’t so inadequate. All you have to do is cut from one of the four corners along the diagonal line you folded. But, before you cut all the way to the center, make sure you only cut 3 centimeters inwards. Then after you’ve done one, cut the other remaining corners. Meanwhile, the next step is to fold all 4 corner sections to the center of the paper. Now to get a better outcome, make sure they all extend to the same spot. By doing so, it will make the windmill look much nicer and neater. Then, once you’ve done so, place a sticker, or a piece of tape in the center to hold the corners precisely in

William and the Wondrous Windmill With nothing but a fistful of cornmeal in his stomach, some old textbooks, and an armory of curiosity, William Kamkwamba embarked on a daring plan to give his country a luxury that westerners considered a necessity: running water and electricity. Forced to drop out of secondary school when his family could not afford the school fees, 14-year-old Kamkwamba used his free time to build a windmill that operated on principles of physics he managed to teach himself. Kamkwamba’s inquisitive nature is apparent from the start. As a young boy, he took apart radios to discover how they worked, built go-karts out of beer cartons, and created screwdrivers with household materials. With the innocence that only a child could…
