Christian Worldview Origin

As Christians, we often hear people refer to something as, “the popular worldview,” but what does that even mean? What does the term worldview refer to? According to the Miriam-Webster’s Dictionary, a worldview is, “the way someone thinks about the world.” Although that may be the dictionary definition, a worldview is more than one person’s view. A worldview, “is an overall concept of the world and our part in it” (Hassenpflug page 88). A Christian worldview has the authority of God as its basis and what the bible has to say on topics such as our origin of life, our identity, meaning and purpose, our mortality, as well as our destiny. The origin of your life is the same for every person, religious or not. Our parents had sex and thus we became. According to Psalms 139:13 God knitted us together in our Mother’s womb. God tells Jeremiah, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you” (Jeremiah 1:5 English Standard Version). As Christians, we know that this is true of all people. Sex might be how people come to be now, but how did the first man and woman come to life? When looking at this question with a Christian worldview means looking at the bible. According to Genesis 1:27, “So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.” This text means that to be human we are God-like sense we were created by Him in His image.
