Analysis Of The Movie A Walk To Remember

Some critics do not do justice to the movies because because critics tend to be harsh on movies that they do not meet their standards. A movie does not need to meet the critics’ standard, but instead meet the audience standards or what the audience want from the movie directors. The movie A Walk to Remember is about a young woman who finds love with an immature boy from the wrong side of town, but soon discovers that she only has couple of days to live. Critics have given the movie “A Walk to Remember” by Adam Shankman a 4.1 out of 10 stars (Rotten Tomates) which does not any justice to the movie. This movie story will provide the viewer of the movie a new type of love story that can change person perspective of love. As the critic, Pauline Kael states in her article, “A Trash, Art, and the Movies”, “it’s breather, a vacation from proper behavior and good taste and required responses,” (Kael). A Walk to Remember provides the audience with a sense of love story instead of having a prince and princess who can not meet because of their stepmother and stepsisters; instead this movie shows the audience of innocent girl whose love changes a wreck less boy into a gentleman. Even though romance and sexual scenes in movies is looked down upon in India, but this movie will be special because this movie is different from the norms. One big reason why this movie was a vacation from other movies because the fact that this movie was one of the few movies that showed a male point view instead of a female point of view. A critic in the The Guardian writes that “What I found interesting is that it was written from Landon 's perspective. Very few romance novels that I 've read have been from the male perspective,” (New York Girl). Adam Shankman choice of showing the movie in the male perspective instead of a female perspective, gave the movie a different feel and view about the movie. As mentioned before most movies are told in a female point of view which is boring to see now, but Shankman changed up things to make the movie more interesting.
