Kingdoms can fall or prosper depending on the quality of leadership provided by the royalty. A good king is moral, hard-working, and selfless, putting his subjects needs ahead of his. A good king is also honest, loyal to his subjects, and good with money, spending money on things to benefit others, not just himself.
The painting “A Voluptuary Under the Horrors of Digestion” depicts the then prince of Wales during a meal. Key features depicted in this painting include numerous bottles of alcohol tucked under the table, a chamberpot full of vomit atop numerous unpaid food supply bills, a book of unpaid gambling debts along with dice and a dice box, many bottles off to the side for ailments including Velnos Vegetable Syrup, a remedy at the time

Medieval Europe from 500-1500CE and Shogunate Japan from 710-to the late 15th century were two very similar places in history. They both had unfair punishments and used the feudal system, which was not a very fair system, especially if you were at the bottom of the pyramid. However, being a king in Europe was more respected because he had so much more power than a Japanese Emperor so it would be better to be a king King rather than an Emperor.…

The theme of change and transformation is also presented in this poem, connecting it to other poems in the collection such as The Woman Who Shopped which also incorporate change and transformation. Louis was a strong, independent ruler, who wanted nothing but to do the best for himself, his people, and his country. By establishing reforms, art, and literature; and conquering different kingdoms, he was able to achieve his goals of becoming a great ruler. Louis XIV was born in the Chateau de Saint-Germain-en-Laye, France on September 5, 1638 to Louis III and Anne of Austria. Named Louis Dieudonne (Louis the God-Given), he gained the common title of French Heir Apparent, first in line of succession that can’t be displaced from inheriting the throne by the birth of another person ("Louis XIV")…

He takes a typical view of one entering a bar and almost tilts it on an axis by placing the viewer in the corner of the room. The tables lining the walls filled with what appears to be drunk customers and their tables littered with drinks adds to the depressing feel he originally intended with his color selection. Van Gogh places what appears to be a representation of himself besides the pool table all alone with nothing but the bottle. This appears to be a nod to Van Gogh’s self awareness of alcoholism. He balances this focal point with the open doorway located to the left implying an emptiness as well as forcing the viewer to wonder what lies…
