Today Matthew and I are going to talk about the significance or theme of both stories that we choose and also our personal experiences.The stories that we choose were “A Visit To Grandmother” and “The Lottery”. We are going to combine our ideas and evidence to prove that our theme relates to all four stories. Our theme that we thought that relates to the stories is Conflict between families. In the story “A Visit To Grandmother”, Charles never forgave his family for a long time and when he finally let out his feelings they felt closer to one another and they felt like a family. In “The Lottery”, conflict is significant because each member of the family picks out a slip of paper to determine whether he or she is the winner to get persecution …show more content…
In this quote that we got from the story says, “I had to. GL coulda ended up swinging if I hadn 't. But you was smarter. You was more grown up than GL when you was 5 and he was 10, and I tried showing you that by letting you do what you wanted to.” gave us the idea that his experience guided the way to where conflict between family is this story’s theme. Whether Charles has done or didn’t do what to become part of something is symbolized as following your family with your heart and soul until the end of the branch. For example for my story, If my brother did something wrong, nothing scandalous will happen to him, he would just get a lecture. Whenever my sister did the same thing she would get yelled at, her phone will get taken away and more. They all will get mad at eachother but in the end it all gets resolved. Every time my twin sisters cause trouble in the house, my mother will tell them to stop disturbing her nap and won’t give my sisters what they want as in food or the things they liked.My brother and I will also get disturbed and will get into a fight with my sisters, but in the end we all get over it, because we’re a family and thats what families do.
