Socialization is how people develop a sense of “self” and how they develop a sense of the way the world works. In the case of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, people on both sides have been socialized to view themselves at the in-group and view others as the as the out-group. One problem is that the children have internalized what is going on. Children on both sides have established themselves as the in-group and the others as the out-group. They learned of this separation from their parents and have internalized those beliefs. Nurture plays a large part in how the children perceived other other group. None of the children were born hating the other side but because of their environment and their experiences they learned to. The children will also see themselves through The Looking- Glass Self.
