The Israeli-Palestinian conflict began in the early 1900’s. When Jews that faced persecution due to the Holocaust began to return home. However, when they got home they encountered 1.2 million Palestinians who were now calling the same land home. In 1948 the United Nations and the United stated supported the Israelis in establishing the state of Israel. Many Palestinians were forced out of their homes by Israeli military force however; some were able to say in Israel. Both groups have fought and continue to fight each other using any means necessary including guns, knives, bombs, blockades and assassinations. There has been a two-state solution proposed unfortunately little progress has been made. So the Israelis and the Palestinians endure the fight for the land both call home.
Socialization is how people develop a sense of “self” and how they develop a sense of the way the world works. In the case of the Israeli-Palestinian conflict, people on both sides have been socialized to view themselves at the in-group and view others as the as the out-group.
