A trending argument for the upcoming Presidential elections is Gun Rights and if they should be stricter. Many recent shooting have occurred over the years and the most recent was last week in California where fourteen people were murdered. Many people want to ban the sale and take away people’s gun rights which is unconstitutional to do. We as American’s have to right to bear arms and defend our selves but people are scared that letting people have guns will cause more shootings and more crime and don’t realize that we need guns to protect ourselves. There are two sides to this argument about guns and gun rights. One side says that guns should be banned in every manner except for police and government use and the other side says that guns …show more content…
Big groups like the NRA who have a lot of power and are keeping gun rights where they are now are trying to remove them saying that people should be allowed to carry guns on them and use them at shooting ranges and for self protection. In the states that have the least amount of gun restriction there is a lower shooting rate than the states with more gun restrictions. The NRA has many good points about gun laws and restrictions. They say that, if people had guns during these shooting that the shooters would have ended up dead a lot sooner and less people would have been killed. Waiting for the police to arrive or waiting for the shooter to run out of ammo takes a lot longer than if some one who had a gun on them were to just kill the shooter. The other point they bring up is that in the constitution there is something called the second amendment which states “A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.” And when gun restrictions are placed the U.S government is taking away the peoples rights. The only reason that they are allowed to do this is because a large group of people support gun restrictions and want to ban guns and the manufacturing of guns all together thinking that the world will be a safer place. The NRA leader said in an article about gun control “Just because some have sought to exploit their rights and kill, why should the government impose further restrictions on innocent

Now within these groups there are views expressed on the far left and the far right, some for limited gun control while other feel any ban is unconstitutional. To start, I’m Pro 2nd amendment, to a point, because I’m also pro gun control to a point. It’s my thinking that most people want sane, law abiding citizens to be able to obtain firearms to protect themselves from criminals, while also wanting society to be able to protect themselves from crazy, insane or violent criminals by enacting stricter gun control laws so that mentally deranged individuals are unable to obtain easy to purchase firearms.…

The Second Amendment, is a very controversial area under discussion in the media. Both advocates for and against gun ownership have been lobbying Congress to gain legislation in their favor for decades. Congress is at a standstill over gun issues and has voted down all proposals on gun control in the legislature. Although regulation is useless against criminals some harm can be avoided through tougher unified gun control, the American people have a Second Amendment right to bear arms, nevertheless regulators must decide who should be allowed ownership of what guns and if any training should be required among other issues, regulation must be clearly defined in order to protect society from needless harm. Proponents of gun control have debated that the Second Amendment only applies to members of militias and does not apply to individual…

That is one of the most important questions in today's society. Just as there are the two political parties, there are two “parties” to gun control. The citizens in favor of gun ownership, and the freedom to obtain and use guns, are relying on the Constitution. However, the opposing side is relying on the statistics that come from the increasing number of shootings across the nation. Those in favor of gun ownership beleive that it is a fundamental right to own a gun, and it should not be taken away.…

Gun control remains to be one of the most popular debates along with abortion, animal testing, and climate change. What makes gun control so controversial? Well, many people have different views on the Second Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, which reads as “A well-regulated militia being necessary to the security of a free state, the right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed.” Advocates for gun control believe this applies only to police and military, but will gun control actually help reduce crime. I chose to believe that stricter gun laws will not be of help, since countries and states who already have done so have seen little to no difference in crime, criminals will not be affected and still get their hands on…

Some groups, such as the Brady Campaign, would like to see gun control laws take away some rights and restrict others, whereas the National Rifle Association would like to protect gun rights and educate society on the use of firearms. But, how can a gun kill or commit crimes; it is not a living thing, it is a tool. With the use of guns, America has grown to be a strong and independent country throughout history. The push to ban guns will only keep guns away from law abiding citizens since criminals, by nature, do not follow laws and respect the gun free zones. The banning of guns in America should end.…
