An Escalating Problem:
The frequency of deadly active shooter incidents has increased to the point active shooter incidents have become a commonality in modern American society. According to an article published by ABC News (2016), recent reports from the FBI indicate the years of 2014 and 2015 twenty active shooter incidents occurred each year. This was nearly six times more than any other time in the preceding sixteen years. This creates a unique situation in which law enforcement officers must be adequately trained to respond, in conjunction with other law enforcement agencies to resolve these high risk critical incidents.
