He critiques their way of doing, and believes they should exit his country and give them back their sovereignty. He was even fired from being a teacher after the communists took control. Ironically, he praises their policies on education, especially those on the education for women. In the novel, Babi, recollects this very line of the poem when reminiscing about what his country used to be. This is ironic, however, because the book is named A Thousand Splendid Suns, taking place in a war torn Afghanistan, in which such beauty does not exist. From totalitarian rulers, to whole massacres, the remnants of what their country once was has been left in ruin by war. This demonstrates irony as Afghanistan epitomizes the cruelties this world has to offer, rather than showing the beauties the poem
