Throughout the novel, A Thousand Splendid Suns, written by Khaled Hosseini, I was able to find many symbols that reappeared as I read this text. However, I believe the two important symbols that I came across that are potent to the development of the main theme, the dominance\ of men and the life of women, is when Mariam signs a contract for her marriage and execution. Another symbol that emphasizes the theme of this novel is Mariam’s and Laila’s burqa.
