Being a poet during this time, he knew he was not going to have a long loved life, but before he died he wanted to leave the world with something, something beautiful. He addresses his previous statement about the story of Endymion, “I’ll smoothly steer my little boat, for many quiet hours, with streams that deepen freshly into bowers. Many and many a verse I hope to write”(Keats 46-49). The last sentence is his explanation of the story, he wishes to write many poems and wants his work to exhibit beauty and live on for forever. He wished to leave behind a legacy that he will always be remembered by. Keats also wishes to reach his peak before he dies so that his most exemplary work can be created. At the end, he states, “I send my herald thought into a wilderness: there let its trumpet blow”(Keats 58-60). He wants to reader to imagine his work blowing out into the world, like a trumpet.
