The picture I chose is of me in Colorado, taking a senior picture. I chose it because I think it makes me look good. People choose to present themselves in a way that’s seemingly more aesthetically pleasing than the other people they interact with, or because they want to feel good about themselves when they post it. I chose it because it caught what I perceive as the best view of me - externally. Photos only focus on the external and what’s skin deep. My skin was filtered to be clearer. I can tell that I looked skinnier than day, and that Instagram made me look tanner than I truly am. I look happier, with my cheesy smile and dimple in my cheek clearly shown - on purpose. Photos only show the message that we choose to present or stage. In this particular photo, I chose to look, like I previously stated, happier, tanner, thinner and more aesthetically pleasing. This is one of my best views of me because it fits in with what societal views say beautiful is, and in that I’m completely a poser or conformist. …show more content…
It can tell that I’m obviously brunette, female, fashionable and strategically positioned in the photo. What it doesn’t show the viewer is my love for doing anything else other than posing for that one picture. The photo doesn’t show my love for helping people and how I consider myself to be a good person. This is the difference between a profile picture and a generic post. Profile pictures are what people are first judged on by anyone who first takes a glance. The generic photo can show what a person likes to do or what they're actually about.
