The short story, A Temporary Matter, was a very sad and depressing story to read. A young married couple had just recently lost their baby and were unable to recover from this tragedy. It had left them isolated from the world and from each other. They lived together but never seemed to talk to one another or eat together anymore. It was almost as if they forgot each other’s existence. Shoba, the wife, seemed to abandon her everyday duties, and started working more. Shukumar, the husband, was the complete opposite and began doing some of Shoba’s duties for her. He cooked, he did the dishes, and he even paid the bills.
