When people think of depression many misunderstand the fact that depression is a mental illness and needs to be taken very seriously. Nowadays it seems more and more people are battling with this mental illness, and are not really sure what to do. Chris has been battling depression for about 12 years. “Depression may be described as feeling sad, blue, unhappy, miserable, or down in the dumps. Most of us feel this way at one time or another for short periods.” (Definition, Google) Through Chris’s life she has dealt with verbal abuse, bullying, sexual assault, molestation, self-harm, and loss of loved ones. It is hard to believe one has been able to surpass all of these traumatic things and come out with such a strong attitude. Observing Chris it came to focus her attention to detail and being able to answer question many clients cannot answer at the age of 50.
